#Cebu zoo#

August 16, 2013

Unplanned visit to Cebu Zoo on my rest day is unforgettable. It was my first time to go there by taxi because it was too far and I'm not familiar to the place. Cebu Zoo is located in Woolbright Drive, Beverly Hills. You can pass by GSP/ Camp marina on your way to Cebu zoo. Entrance fee of 25.00 per adult and 10.00 for ages 4 and up.

First thing you'd see is their biggest snake in the zoo. You can take photos without flashes on the animals in the zoo.

I never had much expectation visiting the zoo. I also heard that they had a tiger but when we asked the care taker he said it died because of old age. He also said they will be expecting one after three months. There are only a few animals in the zoo which I've already seen most of them.

 Black reindeer

 Silver pheasant

On our next picture-taking with the animals I saw an eagle with broken wings. I was so surprised and couldn't explain my emotion after seeing the poor thing. Then, I asked the care taker  why were its wings like that. He just said that they had to cut its wings so it couldn't fly higher.

Then we moved on to the next animal - an only crocodile in the zoo, aged 60 years, their oldest. Beside it are hatchlings aged 3-4 years old.

Moreover, you can see monkeys placed in a cage individually. Others are put in a cage with chains on its waist. I asked why do they have to let them wear chains on their waist though they are already placed in a cage. They just answered because some of them are witty and can easily escape.

There also was an Asian Palm Civet but placed in a much smaller and isolated cage then I asked again why? They answered because the Asian Palm Civet doesn't moved around that much than the monkeys do. Which I don't agree.

The zoo was just small enough to let us finish early. Before we decided to go home, we took the courage of taking pictures with the snakes. It really made me want to faint but at least I've tried. Here's the shot!

I was told you can reach Cebu zoo from Colon Street or Jones Avenue by riding any of these jeepneys with codes: 17B, 17C, 17D, etc.  Then ask the driver to stop at Sudlon, Lahug just beside Mormon's temple. You can see some motorcycle along it waiting in that area. You take one to Cebu Zoo.
